HVAC & home-services contractors
Job-level margins, seasonal cash flow, and equipment that adds complexity.
We’re the full accounting team and fractional CFO for growing, owner-led businesses. We manage the books and watch the numbers, so you get your time back and make every decision with confidence.
You’ll meet directly with one of our partners
You don't have time for accounting and your financials leave you with more questions than answers. Sound familiar?
Hours every month closing, chasing, and double-checking. Work that pulls you away from actually running the business.
Hiring, pricing, expansion: decided on instinct because the numbers aren't current or clear.
No straight answer on which jobs, clients, or services actually make you money.
Cash feels tight even in good months, and tax shows up as a surprise. No forecast to plan around.
Even when things seem fine, there's the nagging worry that something's slipping, and no one else is checking the numbers.
If you're nodding along — that's exactly what we fix.

We keep your books clean day-to-day and then make sure your financials are set up to help you make decisions. The reporting, forecasting, and strategic guidance business owners need, without having to make a full time finance hire.
Explore Fractional CFO & AdvisoryA sample of the monthly reporting our clients run on.
Every month, without chasing anyone.
Margins by job, client, and service line.
Forecasts and runway, not surprises.
The right tools, set up to talk to each other.
Proactive planning, not an April scramble. An optional add-on to any engagement.
We review your numbers all month, so it stops living in the back of your head.
If you're running roughly $1M–$15M and the finance side hasn't kept up with your growth, you're our people no matter the industry. We go especially deep with three:
Job-level margins, seasonal cash flow, and equipment that adds complexity.
Project profitability, team utilization, and retainer cash flow.
Recurring revenue, deferred revenue, and thin hardware margins.
These 3 examples above are industries we focus on, but we serve clients across over a dozen different industries. If you've outgrown your current financial setup then we should connect.
A messy balance sheet, unreconciled accounts, a lack of clear visibility into profit across entities, and an in-house team stretched thin.
Close the books in 6 business days a month, process ~200 bills through an approval workflow we built, and standardized the chart of accounts so inter-entity eliminations happen automatically.
Internal admin time cut 50%, decisions made off reporting fast enough to act on — and no more copy-pasting into spreadsheets.
An owner spending 5–10 hours a month closing the books by hand. Stuck with a P&L that didn't separate revenue by service line, and a payroll setup they'd outgrown.
Took over the monthly close and cut the owner's accounting time by 90%, and rebuilt the P&L across 2,500+ SKUs to surface true service-line gross margin.
The owner is out of the books, with up-to-the-minute numbers to fuel business decisions.
A fast-growing business with a lot of moving parts, an unclear tech stack, and a need for project tracking. Lacking a deeply integrated financial partner.
Track profitability by project, manage contractor and vendor bill pay, built custom budgeting apps, and run weekly strategy calls so nothing slips.
Owners out of the back office and focused on clients, with clear visibility into where to focus their business.
We learn your business and tell you honestly whether we can help.
We always scope flat monthly pricing. Explicit deliverables and no surprises.
We get your books current and your finance stack dialed in.
Monthly close, regular reviews, and a CFO in your corner all year.
You won't get handed off to a rotating cast or an offshore inbox. East Main Management is Alex Barnwell, William Wallace, and Jake Glass — three partners who know your business by name.

Alex founded East Main Management to give businesses owners the financial partner most never get. A Clemson accounting graduate and QuickBooks Platinum ProAdvisor, he works closest with owners on the decisions that move the business: pricing, hiring, growth. He lives in Greenville with his wife and dog. When he isn't in the numbers he's training for an Ironman or chasing national parks and hiking trails.

William brings a technology background to the firm. He spent years in IT across the auto finance and health insurance industries before moving into accounting, and that experience shows in how he builds clean, reliable systems for clients. He studied Economics at Covenant College and is driven by helping owners take real control of their finances. He lives in Greenville with his wife, Katie, and their Australian Shepherd, Cola, and stays busy with golf and running.

Jake came to East Main from Bank of America, where he managed Commercial Credit for middle-market clients across the Southeast. He brings a lender's eye for what makes a business financially sound. A Clemson finance graduate, he's at his best partnering with owners to organize their finances and make their lives easier. He's based in Charlotte with his wife, Cate, and their dog, Polly, and is a dedicated user of his AMC moviegoing pass.
Done-for-you books and year-round tax for solopreneurs and small teams.
See EMM Essentials…you're shopping for the cheapest possible bookkeeper, or you want someone to file a return once a year and disappear in between. In order to have the bandwidth to build deeper client relationships, we solely focus on business owners that desire a strategic relationship with their accountant. If that's not what you're after, we'll gladly point you somewhere that fits!
A bookkeeper records what happened. A CPA usually files your taxes. We do both and add the part most owners are missing: someone using those numbers to help you make better decisions all year.
Yes. We're based in Greenville and work with clients nationwide.
Most CFO & advisory engagements run $1,200–$6,000/month depending on scope. EMM Essentials starts at $500/mo. Tax is an optional add on to either package and pricing varies by complexity.
That's common, and we handle catch-up as part of onboarding. You won't be judged for it.
