Our story

Why we built East Main Management

Named after our original location on East Main Street in West Greenville, East Main Management started from a simple frustration: most business owners get almost nothing out of their financials. They sometimes have a bookkeeper who records the past and a CPA who files once a year — but no one helping them actually use the numbers to run and grow the business. It is extremely common that the financials that owners do have are either incorrect or incomplete.

Alex, William, and Jake are all childhood friends from Charlotte, NC. After college and a few years in the workforce, we reunited to form East Main Management. Our long history together and deep personal relationships is the backbone of our firm.

In the age of AI chatbots, people are increasingly craving a human advisor to help guide them through their unique decisions and circumstances. Information is free, but we believe that implementation and relationships are the future of our industry. We have a passion for equipping business owners to be more in control of their business. We love to take the work off of your plate, but we also want all of our clients to be better equipped as business owners by working with us. Our goal is to leave every business we work with better than we found it!

Alex Barnwell

FOUNDER & CEO

Hello! I'm Alex, founder of East Main Management — thank you for taking the time to consider us for your business. I grew up in Charlotte, NC, and graduated from Clemson University in 2020 with a degree in Accounting; I also hold the QuickBooks Online Platinum ProAdvisor certification. My wife and I live in Greenville, SC, and are in the process of adopting a foster puppy. In my free time I travel to national parks and international hiking destinations, play sports with friends, and am currently training for an Ironman triathlon. I'm passionate about helping small businesses thrive — seeing clients gain confidence in their finances and partnering with them to reach their goals is my favorite part of what I do.

William Wallace

Partner & Account Executive

Hi, I'm William. I grew up in Charlotte, NC, and graduated from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA, with a degree in Economics. Before joining East Main Management, I worked in Information Technology for companies in the auto finance and health insurance industries. I now live in Greenville, SC, with my wife, Katie, and our Australian Shepherd, Cola, and in my free time I enjoy golf, running, and staying active. I joined Alex to help small business owners gain real control of their finances — and to be a partner they can count on as they grow.

Jake Glass

Partner & Account Executive

Hi, I'm Jake. Originally from Charlotte, NC, I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Financial Management and a minor in Accounting. Before East Main Management, I worked in Commercial Credit at Bank of America, serving middle-market clients across the Southeast. I still live in Charlotte with my wife, Cate, and outside of work you'll find me taking our dog, Polly, to the park, putting my AMC pass to use at the movies, or staying active through sports. I love partnering with small business owners to organize their finances and deliver solutions that make their lives easier.
